Beacon [SHOW/HIDE]
Ever-increasing number of cameras - including street cameras, smartphone cameras, body cameras, and so forth - and the advancement of A.I.-based facial recognition technologies are putting us in a situation we have never experienced before. Some researchers say we would soon have to give up the anonymity outside of our houses. A.I. itself is becoming so powerful that, according to a Stanford research, it can find out people's sexual orientation only from photos. And, with the shocking accuracy of A.I.'s face matching capability, a simple snapshot would be enough to reveal people's identity using whatever information available on-line, such as our full name, date and place of birth, which could eventually lead even to the most private information such as our social security number.
Beacon envisions the future where high-tech cameras and privacy co-exist. Its goal is simple: getting the control over our facial images and privacy back to us. Whenever you are facing or surrounded by cameras, consciously or unconsciously, it gives back to you the right to determine how those pictures taken can be handled, or even whether they can be taken.
